| | | | From twenty years' experience with eating disorders, biofeedback, and family therapy, I am especially good at mind-body connection and resolving root causes of problems.
I encourage the use of art, sand tray, Hakomi, psychodrama, journaling, and bibliotherapy. I use an ecological approach to working with adolescents and their families. One of my favorite ways of working with individuals is Internal Family Systems. For rapid resolution of trauma I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It is especially useful for anxiety and addictions.
I also use EMDR as an adjunct to other therapies to accelerate progress by resolving painful feelings about past traumatic experiences, phobias, anxiety, or enhance career performance. Adjunctive EMDR is brief, targeted, and usually complete in 3-12 sessions, in addition to regular therapy sessions.
For depression I use a combination of cognitive behavioral and DBT therapies.
For Phobias and OCD I use Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.
I am expecially fond of identifying and working with children and adults with Asperger's Syndrome.
I am authorized to treat anyone addicted to any form of problem gambling for up to eight free sessions paid for by the State of California Office of Problem Gambling and administered by UCLA. This includes relatives of gamblers not living in this state.
